Investigation Summary
On January 9, 2007, a roofing company was replacing the roof of a house. A roofer was installing the roof, when he fell. It was not clear whether the employee was on the roof or on a ladder. He landed on the brick walkway at the front of the house. The employer stated that the roofer was given instructions to lay felt at the front edge of the house and that the roofer was provided with fall protection equipment. Numerous attempts were made to contact the employee but were unsuccessful. The roofer was admitted to a hospital and had numerous surgeries to set broken bones in his wrist and to repair fractured facial bones. The employee suffered additional fractures to his right elbow, right ankle fracture, as well as a nasal septum fracture.
