Employee Injures Leg When Struck by Carriage

On September 30, 2005, an employee, a laborer, was instructed by a coworker to sit in the seat of the multi-use New Holland LS190 and adjust the forks without permission of their employer. When the employee did not understand what was asked of him, the operator reached in with his hand to operate the controls and inadvertently lowered the carriage down, catching the employee's leg between the carriage and the machine. The employee was trained in the proper use of the vehicle, but was attempting a short cut when the accident occurred. The employee received ligament damage to his right leg and knee. He was hospitalized and treated for his injuries.
