Employee Suffers Fracture in Fall from Ladder

On September 29, 2005, Employee #1 and Employee #2, of Sopko Welding Incorporated, climbed a fully retracted 22 ft aluminum extension ladder (working height at approximately 11 ft) to gain access to an overhead storage balcony that was approximately 10 ft 7 in. high. While Employee #1 descended the ladder, the ladder slipped out under him, causing him to fall approximately 6 to 8 ft to the concrete floor. He landed on his left side and back on the ladder. Employee #1 was hospitalized and treated for unspecified fractures.
