Event: 03/24/2005
Employee Is Injured in Fall from Roof

On March 24, 2005, an employee was performing roofing work on a 0.25 slope roof of a two-story residential building. The employee was descending from the roof using a portable extension ladder and his foot slipped on the gutter at the eave of the roof. When he grabbed the ladder, one side of the ladder was not locked in place, and the ladder slipped, at which time the employee fell approximately 20 ft to ground level. The employee was flown to shock trauma and admitted to a local hospital. He sustained four broken ribs on his right side, a punctured lung, a neck bone fracture, and a cracked pelvis. He was hospitalized.
