Employee Is Struck by Falling Lumber and Is Killed

On July 10, 2007, an employee was lifting a bundle of two by fours, 14 feet in length so they could be moved to the shop area, cut and used to make wooden pallets at the facility. The employee was using a Nissan 50 forklift to pick up the bundle. As the employee tried to pick up the bundle, a bundle that was stacked above and behind the front stack rolled off of the stack and struck the top of the fork lift the was using. The bundle weighed 4,720 pounds. The bundle crushed the employee in the seat of the fork lift. The employee was pronounced dead at the scene. The employee died of severe head injuries and a broken neck.
