Event: 11/15/2005
Employee Is Injured in Aerial Lift Roll-Over

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on November 15, 2005, Employee #1 was maneuvering an aerial lift down a concrete slope with a grade of 26 degrees. When the lift lost traction, it rolled 26 ft to the bottom of the slope. Employee #1 was then ejected from the lift basket and landed on a concrete surface. He was hospitalized for a fractured left arm and ribs, a lacerated bladder, and a separated pelvis. The lift was being operated on a grade steeper than allowed by the manufacturer, and Employee #1 had not received training in the limitations of the lift. Employee #1 had his harness on but was not tied off to the basket.
