Employee Is Injured in Fall from Ladder

At approximately 7:00 a.m. on December 7, 2004, Employee #1 was attempting to gain access to a residential property. Employee #1 and two coworkers took a ladder and placed it against a second floor balcony deck. The first coworker climbed the ladder while Employee #1 held it. Following this attempt, the first coworker left to find another key. At this point Employee #1 ask the other coworker to stabilize the ladder while he climbed and tried a key he had. Again, this failed to open the door. Employee #1 climbed back onto the ladder but the coworker holding the ladder had stepped away. The ladder slid on the moist deck and slid with Employee #1 on it. Employee #1 fell approximately 10 ft to the deck below sustaining two fractures of his back when he landed on top of the ladder. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
