Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 202076121
Event: 09/20/2004
Employee is injured when caught between two chains

At approximately 11:15 p.m. on September 20, 2004, Employee #1, while working on the assembly line at the rear axle installation station, left his station to retrieve a chassis from the front axle installation station. To move the chassis into the rear axle installation area he grabbed onto the front of the chassis and pulled backwards. While pulling the chassis, he backed into a chassis already located in the rear axle installation area. The inertia from the chassis in motion carried that chassis forward, trapping Employee #1 between the two chassis. The two chassis were each approximately 32-36 inches in height. Employee #1 sustained contusions to the abdomen and was hospitalized.
