Investigation Summary
On July 19, 2005, Employee #1 and Employee #2, of The Davey Tree Expert Company, Incorporated, were clearing tree limbs for the right of way of the power company's electrical lines. Employee #1 was on the ground holding the pull line, which was tied around a limb to keep it from contacting the electrical lines. Employee #2 was in a tree adjacent to the lines removing limbs. Employee #2 cut a limb, and it fell resting upon an electrical line. Employee #1 stepped under the electrical line, with the limb resting on it, to discuss with Employee #2 how to proceed to remove the limb. The electrical line broke, from the limbs weight, and fell on Employee #1, electrocuting and killing him.
