Employee injured in fall from frame wall of building

On August 16, 2004, Employee #1 was working alone to install shear panels between the joists of the second floor of an apartment building. He was standing on a frame wall when he felt it move under his feet. Employee #1 lost his balance and fell approximately 9 ft to the ground. He sustained multiple head and body injuries and was taken to a local hospital. His injuries were considered life-threatening, and he underwent multiple surgeries before eventually being released. Employee #1 tried to break his fall by holding onto one of the joists he was installing, but it tipped over.
