Event: 08/18/2005
Employee Dies When Crushed Between Trucks

At approximately 5:10 a.m. on August 18, 2005, two truck drivers had parked their 18-wheel tractor/trailer vehicles parallel to each other at the Maggio Auto and Truck Center in Rockford, IL. Employee #1 positioned himself between the cab of his truck and the truck parked immediately west of his. Employee #2 left his parking station first. As he left, Employee #2 assumed that he had pulled away far enough from his parking station to make a right turn. However, his trailer lagged behind, making contact with the Employee #1's cab and pinned him between the tandem wheels of Employee #2's truck and his cab. Employee #1 was crushed between the two trucks and died from his injuries.
