Employee Is Injured in Fall from Elevated Platform

Employee #1, an oiler, was servicing the end "dogger" between the days and swing shift. After locking out the equipment Employee #1 walked down onto the access platform and crawled under the scanner yoke charger to grease the machine. At this point Employee #1 fell approximately 9 ft 4 in. from the open side of the letdown platform onto the concrete floor. The swing shift operator called to get the machine unlocked. The sawmill superintendent began looking for Employee #1. The superintendent looked down through the end "dogger" and saw the Employee #1 laying on the concrete floor. Employee #1 suffered fractures and was hospitalized.
