Employee Is Struck By Truck And Dies Later

Employee #1, a route delivery driver, was crushed between the trailer of an 18-wheel transport truck and a stationary refrigerated trailer used as a satellite warehouse. The transport trailer and the warehouse trailer were positioned end to end so that product could be easily moved from the transport trailer into the warehouse trailer. After finishing unloading the product from his transport trailer into the stationary warehouse trailer, the transport driver began backing his rig in order to make a turn and pull away from the stationary trailer. At the same time, Employee #1 had stepped between the trailers to close the door of the stationary trailer. Employee #1 was trapped between the two trailers and sustained crushing injuries to his abdomen. Employee #1 was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead during surgery.
