Two employees injured when struck by car

At approximately 4:40 a.m. on May 17, 2004, Employees #1 and #2 were picking up cones and construction barrels in the southbound lanes of I-5 at exit 296A. They left their "cone truck" and were retrieving cones when a car crossed into the exit lane. The car struck Employee #1 and he was thrown in the air and landed on the Employee #2. Employee #1 sustained multiple fractures and was hospitalized and Employee #2 suffered a concussion.
