Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 200553741
Event: 01/17/2005
Employee Dies from Heart Disease

At approximately 6:30 a.m. on January 17, 2005, Employee #1, a truck driver/equipment operator, arrived at work in good condition and was subsequently dispatched to transport a track-hoe from a job site. When Employee #1's return was overdue and no contact could be made, two coworkers were sent to locate him. At approximately 11:30 a.m., the coworkers located the driver at the designated job site. He was found slumped and unconscious in the cab of his truck, without a pulse. The coworkers found the door of the truck open and the track-hoe engine still running. The track-hoe was loaded on to the truck's lowboy trailer. In addition, the driver had taken off his gloves and gotten out a cup of milk, but did not drink it. The cause of death, determined by the coroner's office, was "Severe Artocoronary Atherosclerosis" and the manner of death was reported as "Natural."
