Employee Suffers Amputation Clearing Sawdust from Saw Blade

At approximately 11:50 a.m. on June 8, 2006, Employee #1 was cutting 6-in. by 10-in. wood blocks with a De Walt Radial Arm Saw. Employee #1 shut the saw off to clear a sawdust buildup behind the saw. Employee #1 did not wait for the saw blade to come to a complete stop. Employee #1's right hand was drawn towards the vacuum hose. Employee #1 pulled his right hand away and the hand contacted the coasting blade. Employee #1 suffered a partial amputation to his right hand's third finger and was hospitalized for two days.
