Employee Is Injured When Thrown from Forklift

At approximately 3:20 p.m. on April 27, 2006, Employee #1, a concrete masonry contractor, was operating a fork-lift, CHAMP CA License Number 3SFB862, backward on a very steep road. The engine of the fork-lift was off. He tried to stop the fork-lift but could not since the brakes were not strong enough. He was going to repair the forklift since the power drive shaft was broken. He hit another vehicle on the road and was thrown out of the forklift. He sustained two fractures on his skull, a swollen brain and an injury on his back and left knee. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
