Carpenter Is Injured by Nail Gun

At approximately 8:15 a.m. on February 20, 2006, Employee #1, a part-time laborer with County Line Framing, Inc., was using a Hitachi NR 83A pneumatic nailer to fasten overhead boards on a residential construction project. When the nailer recoiled, it contacted his chin, while his finger remained on the trigger. The machine then fired a 16-penny (3.25-in.) nail into his chin, penetrating into his mouth and tongue. Employee #1 was hospitalized at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital for treatment, including surgery.
