Employee Is Injured in Fall from Unsecured Ladder

At approximately 7:49 a.m. on July 20, 2005, an employee fell approximately 18 feet off of an unsecured ladder when the ladder being used to access the higher roof kicked-out and slid-off of the lower roof to the ground. The emergency medical services were called. The employee was initially transported Big Bear Hospital, then airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he underwent surgery, and two weeks of hospitalization. He was treated for multiple bilateral rib fractures, hemothorax, and thoracic spine fractures.
