Employee's Fingers Are Amputated in Machine

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on October 1, 2004, Employee #1, a machine operator with Boozak, Inc., removed a gear assembly cover from a Wysong & Miles metal shear machine to make an adjustment while the machine was running. His left gloved hand became caught the in-running nip point, causing partial amputation of his left ring and little fingers. Coworkers provided first aid and took Employee #1 to the Inland Valley Medical Center. He was then transferred to the Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he was hospitalized for surgery.
