Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 202439550
Event: 06/17/2004
Employee Fractures Skull in Fall from Roof

At approximately 6:30 a.m. on June 17, 2004, Employee #1 had been sent by his supervisor at Woodcrest Christian School to go up on the roof to hose off the air conditioning unit. Near the air conditioning unit, the roof is on two levels; one is 4.5 feet higher than the other. Employee #1 was on the higher of the two sections. Employee #1 was jumping from the higher section to the lower section when he lost his footing and fell onto a skylight about three feet from where he was trying to land. The acrylic glass skylight gave way due to the impact, and Employee #1 fell through it to the concrete floor eleven feet below, landing head first. Employee #1 sustained a fractured skull and required hospitalization for one week.
