Employee Is Injured in Fall from Shelving

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on April 14, 2004, Employee #1, employed by Target, was changing a burned out fluorescent light tube. He gained access to the top of a light duty shelving unit via an 8-foot aluminum step ladder and was using the shelving unit to gain access to the lighting fixture that was mounted along the stockroom ceiling, when he fell 12 feet from the shelving unit. Employee #1 sustained a concussion and was hospitalized for sixteen days. Employee #1 is a full-time employee of this employer and was working as a store building services maintenance technician.
