Employees Are Injured When Electric Cable Falls

On June 23, 2005, Employees #1 and #2 were working in a tunnel opening, when a 320-ft-long section of 480-volt electric cable broke free and fell some 300 feet into the opening. It struck the two employees, breaking the right ankle of Employee #1 and bruising the spine of Employee #2. Both employees were hospitalized. The cable weighed 3.73 lbs per ft. The total weight of the cable was 1193.6 lbs.
