Employee Amputates Finger While Using Radial Arm Saw

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on September 24, 2008, Employee #1 was holding the end of an aluminum extrusion on a roller conveyor as he was attempting to cut it with a radial arm saw at his cutting station. Employee #1 held his right hand on the end of the stationary aluminum extrusion, holding it against an end stop at his cutting station and was struck by another aluminum extrusion in motion on the same roller conveyer. Employee #1 suffered a partial amputation of his small right ringer. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
