Employee fractures ankle in fall from theater roof

At approximately 8:00 a.m. on September 12, 2007, Employee #1, a construction laborer with American Wrecking, Inc., was standing near the edge of a roof that joined two buildings at the entrance of a theater that was being demolished. He was using a pry bar to loosen an approximately 20 ft long wooden joist when he lost his balance and fell approximately 23 ft onto a cement floor. Employee #1 sustained a fractured left heel and compressed vertebrae. He was transported to the hospital, where he was treated for three days. Employee #1 had been working for the company for only nine days at the time of the accident.
