Employee's Fingers Are Amputated by Falling Tubing

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on January 8, 2007, an employee was using an overhead bridge crane to handle a 490 pound steel tubing to perform welds on it. While attempting to turn the tubing over, the chain sling became disengaged, dropping the tubing on the table and crushing the employee's right index and middle finger, resulting in their amputations. The employee was transported to La Palma Hospital then transferred to a clinic and finally transferred to Western Hand and Orthopedics, where he was treated for his injuries and released early the following morning.
