Employee's Finger Is Amputated after Being Caught in Press

At approximately 8:00 p.m. on February 17, 2006, Employee #1 was servicing the Sakura Press and Coating Machine with oil, while the machine was running. His left index finger got caught between the in-running sprocket and the chain underneath the machine. The employee's left index finger was amputated and he was transported to Technnimed, where he was treated and released in about three hours. Factors that contributed to this accident were the machine was not stopped or deenergized and the employee was not given an extension tool needed to be capable of movement before performing servicing on the machine.
