Employee amputates fingers on guard to machine

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on January 16, 2004, an employee was operating a cookie and snack cartoning machine. A bag became caught in the out feed conveyor and he reached under the guard to try to get the bag. His fingers came in contact with the sharp edge of the guard and he amputated his right and pointer fingers to the first knuckle. He was hospitalized with his injuries.
