Employee Fractures Leg While Operating Skid Loader

On March 2, 2005, Employee #1 was transferring a bucket from a skid loader to install forks to unload freight. Employee #1 stood up in the skid loader. He stuck out his right foot to hit the reliever to release the bucket. Employee #1 slipped onto the edge of the seat of the skid loader. He made contact with the operating arms of the skid loader, which caused the release of the hydraulics. Employee #1's right leg was pinned. His lower right leg was fractured in two places below his knee. He was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Unit.
