Event: 06/30/2004
Five employees are injured when struck by falling equipment

On June 30, 2004, the King Mesa, Inc. company was installing a battery condenser with manually operated chain hoists. Employees #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5 were standing on a catwalk around the perimeter of this piece of equipment as it was being hoisted to an estimated height of 27 ft. Unexpectedly, a piece of the rigging gave way, causing the entire assembly to fall to the floor. The five crew men were thrown from the catwalk. One of them was pinned by his legs under the condenser. Another person on the ground was struck by a falling object. Employees #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5 sustained bruises, contusions, and abrasions, and were hospitalized.
