Employee slips, falls, and injures leg

On September 22, 2003, an employee and a Home Depot receiving coworker were unloading rolls of carpet padding from the feeder trailer and placing them onto a storage trailer next to the feeder trailer. The employee carried the end of a roll of padding into the other trailer and placed it on the floor. There were five rolls already in the trailer and this filled the floor. He tested the second roll from trailer wall for firmness, stood on it and started walking out of the trailer. When he got to the end of the trailer, the end of the padding roll either collapsed or the employee's foot slipped on the plastic, causing the employee to fall on the dock plate breaking his left leg. He was hospitalized.
