Tree Strikes And Kills Employee

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on August 12, 2003, Employee #1 and a coworker were felling trees. The coworker felled a tree that became lodged in other trees. The coworker then felled another tree that Employee #1 pulled into the limbing area with the skidder. Employee #1 started limbing the top of the second tree which was within 35 ft of a third tree. The coworker then felled the third tree in a northwest direction. The third tree struck the lodged tree which fell striking Employee #1 on the right side of the head causing him to fall backwards onto the ground. Employee #1 was pronounced dead at the scene.
