Investigation Summary
An employee was limbing and topping a tree for removal from a residential lot when he fell. He was working approximately 40 feet high. He was wearing a safety belt and lanyard positioned around the tree and was wearing climbers. It is unknown why he fell, but his employer stated that he had tied a repel knot in the rope he was using and was getting ready to repel to the ground. His lanyard on one side of the safety belt was unhooked. The repel rope and the rope used to guide the tree being felled were found at the base of the tree with him. Emergency medical services responded and transported him to the hospital where he died.
