Vehicle Strikes And Injures Employee

Employee #1, the foreman of a construction crew, was briefing his workers on how a storm sewer was to be set. After explaining what he expected, Employee #1 left his crew and walked to the highway. When Employee #1 reached the highway he began to walk parallel with the highway positioned only 3 ft from the road edge. An inattentive motorist coming from the opposite direction veered off the highway striking Employee #1 on his right leg throwing him off the road and into a ditch. Employee #1 suffered a fracture and was hospitalized.
