Employee amputates fingers while operating miter saw

On November 11, 2003, Employee #1 was using a miter saw to cut fire wood at a private residence. The miter saw contained a safety guard. Employee #1 normally performed this type of work. For some reason, he amputated his middle left finger at its first digit, left index finger across the nail, and left ring finger between its first and second digits. Employee #1 received stitches in an attempt to mend his injuries.
