Employee cuts all four fingers on table saw

On May 7, 2004, an employee was cutting a piece of wood stock on the table saw that did not have a guard over the blade. The saw blade cranked all of the way up. He reached over the blade to hold the piece of wood on the back side and ran his fingers across the top of the blade, cutting all four fingers at the first joint and severing a tendon on his middle finger. He was hospitalized and treated for amputation.
