Employee dies after he was burned by radiator fluid

At approximately 1:46 p.m. on October 21, 2003, an employee was working on a Wagner Yard Loader that had an engine compartment fire, which activated a dry chemical fire extinguisher and shut down the engine. When the employee raised the hood to identify the problem and the radiator hose exploded between the radiator and the thermostat housing. The employee received second-degree burns to his abdomen, right leg, face, chest, inside both arms, and neck from the radiator fluid consisting of Ethylene Glycol and water mixture. He was transported to Harborview Hospital in Seattle where he died October 31, 2003.
