Sheriff's deputy dies in a high speed pursuit

At approximately 2:15 a.m. on August 29, 2003, Employee #1, a Spokane County Sheriff Deputy, was responding to another coworker who was involved in a high-speed pursuit, when his patrol car left the road and struck a utility pole. He was found buckled into his seat and unconscious. He was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane where he died of his injuries at approximately 11:00 p.m. the same day.
