Employee struck by vehicle

At approximately 10:45 p.m., on January 27, 2003, Employee #1 was on patrol at a sugar mill. Employee #1 was operating a patrol vehicle when he was radioed that a truck had not stopped at the gate. Employee #1 stopped his patrol vehicle on the right side of the road and waited for the truck to approach. The truck approached entering the left turn lane, as Employee #1 was walking across the lanes and into the opposite lane of traffic and was struck by a vehicle. Employee was not wearing a reflective vest. Employee #1 was hospitalized for internal injuries where he died on January 29, 2003.
