Investigation Summary
At 2:05 p.m. on September 3, 2002, Employee #1 and two coworkers were working on a drop inlet box, approximately 3 ft 9 in. off the shoulder of an interstate highway. A pickup truck, traveling westbound, down the right-hand lane veered off the side of the road onto the shoulder, striking all three workers. Employee #1 was pronounced dead at the scene. The two coworkers were transported to a local hospital, where they were treated and released.
