Employee is killed in fall when jumps off garbage truck

On August 29, 2002, Employee #1 was riding on the back of a garbage pickup truck that was on its normal route when his cap flew off. The truck driver, alerted to the situation, slowed down to stop, but Employee #1 leaped off before the truck had time to stop. He lost his balance as he jumped and fell to the pavement, striking his head as he landed. Employee #1 was pronounced dead on the scene.
