Employee falls on ice making deliveries and injures knee

On January 27, 2003, Employee #1 was climbing the stairway and slipped on ice. He landed on his left knee and tweaked back. Employee #1 got up, finished delivery to the residence and returned to the delivery truck. He contacted a dispatcher to report the injury and to report his inability to finish the route. The residence walkway and stairs had built up ice and no handrail. Employee #1 went to the doctor (First Care) and was informed not to return to work until after a second evaluation. Employee #1 was given a prescription for muscle relaxers and pain medication. Employee #1 also experienced numbness from waist down on the morning of February 1, 2003, and was taken by ambulance from home to the hospital. Employee #1 underwent emergency surgery.
