Investigation Summary
On June 20, 2005, Employee #1 was working on the second floor of a framed multi-unit residential building. He was installing some additional non weight bearing members on the second floor, which was completely sheeted at the time. In order to come down to the ground level during the morning break, he decided to climb over a guardrail of a balcony and tried to slide down a 2-in. by 4-in. bracing of a framed wall. In doing so, Employee #1 fell about 9 ft onto a concrete floor. The stairs were available in the near vicinity, but Employee #1 decided to take a shortcut. Employee #1 sustained multiple internal injuries including a head injury. He was treated and hospitalized for more than 1.5 months.
