Employee Slips and Falls from Ladder

On January 21, 2003, Employee #1 and a coworker were getting ready to go home after working on a residential re-roofing job. The coworker was on the ground when Employee #1 started to climb down a standard metal extension ladder. He slipped and fell approximately 8 feet to the concrete driveway, landing on his feet and falling on his buttocks. On the day of the accident, Employee #1 was brought to the hospital, but left the emergency room after a long wait. Two days later, he was hospitalized with a fractured disk.
