Highway Employee Is Killed by Tractor Trailer

On July 22, 2002, a highway maintenance employee pulled to the shoulder of Highway I-77 in Carroll County, Virginia, to conduct an engineering survey of a culvert. The employee was performing a drain outfall inspection. A tractor-trailer struck and killed him as he stood by his vehicle.
