Employee injured when truss collapsed

On December 5, 2001, employees were constructing a 100 foot by 50 foot wooden single-story on-grade commercial office building structure. The framing contractor's employees had just installed one of the last 49-feet 3-inch long wooden trusses. At that time, the employees heard a loud pop and the previously erected wooden trusses collapsed in a domino fashion into the structure, causing portions of the side walls to also collapse. During the collapse, Employee #1 fell from the top plate approximately 9 feet to the exterior area of the structure, receiving head laceration injuries.
