Investigation Summary
On July 25, 2001, Employees #1 and #2 were working from a basket of an aerial lift truck harvesting cherries from cherry trees. As they were gathering the cherries, a semi-tractor truck struck the boom of the aerial lift truck. Both employees were wearing personal fall arrest equipment, but were not tied off to the basket. The collision caused both employees to be injected from the basket. Employee #1 was fatally injured when he fell 13 ft to the concrete surface, while Employee #2 received fractures in his legs from the fall.
