On August 23, 2001, an employee of American Interior and Exterior Finishes, Inc. was working on a scaffold that was 24 ft 6 in. above the ground. He was applying an exterior insulation finish system. The scaffold at this area was missing a midrail, and the employee fell. The area where the accident occurred contained two scaffold towers that were free standing with only wood planks to connect them and a top rail on the working platform. The two towers were approximately 24 in. apart with the wood planks between them as a walking and working plank. The employee received bruises from the fall and was taken to shock trauma unit and was released the same night.
