Event: 08/20/2001
Employee killed from fall off of elevated platform

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on August 20, 2001, Employee #1 was working along the outer edge of the wall toe nailing vertical studs for a knee wall. He was not wearing a personal fall arrest system and there was no guardrail system along the wall perimeter. After completing a section of the floor, he stood up and lost his balance, falling over the knee wall. He fell striking the unfinished concrete step that was 11.6 ft below and falling another 7 ft to the ground. The impact of the fall caused him to sustain traumatic head injuries that were fatal.
