Investigation Summary
Employee #1, the driver, and Employee #2 , a passenger, were traveling southbound on Interstate 5 in a 1991 Ford Aerostar van owned by their employer. At approximately 1:15 p.m. the vehicle left the roadway, striking two Department of Corrections employees, fatally injuring one. The van then struck a pine tree where it stopped. Employee #1 and Employee #2 were transported by ambulance to the hospital with multiple injuries.
